The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the Intelligence Bureau (IB) have written to the Pakistani Consul General in Dubai seeking help in investigating the murder of renowned journalist Arshad Sharif.

The letter issued by FIA and IB states that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had formed a two-member fact-finding committee to investigate the murder of journalist Arshad Sharif.

The letter states that the team has already visited Kenya in this regard and now some information is required in Dubai.

In the letter, the fact-finding committee consisting of FIA and IB has requested Dubai Police's cooperation on the following points:

A copy of the documents issued regarding Arshad Sharif's visa and travel should be provided.

Was Arshad Sharif's visa cancelled, if yes, for what reasons.

Mark the place where Arshad Sharif stayed in Dubai from August 10 to 20.

All details of Arshad Sharif's residence in Dubai should be provided.

Provide all CCTV footage around the residence.

All the details of where Arshad Sharif went and who he met in Dubai are required.

CDR of Arshad Sharif's phone number, which as per information was being used by him there, should be provided.

Data of Pakistani passport holders coming to Dubai from October 10 to 20 should be provided.

CDR of phone numbers of ARY News owner Salman Iqbal and ARY operations head Tariq Vahad should also be provided.

If an official of the United Arab Emirates government met Arshad Sharif and asked him to leave the country, information should be given in this regard.

The letter added that the Dubai authorities should appoint a police official as the focal person for the investigation in Pakistan.

It should be remembered that the well-known journalist and anchor Arshad Sharif was killed in Kenya on October 24 and initially the Kenyan police stated that a policeman had mistakenly shot and killed Arshad Sharif in a case.

Later, Canyon Media reports suggested that it appeared to be an organized killing, and evidence came to the contrary of police reports.

On the other hand, the Pakistani government formed an investigation team and a two-member team visited Kenya to investigate the murder.

It may be recalled that Arshad Sharif left Pakistan in August this year after the cases were registered against him and there were reports that he initially stayed in the United Arab Emirates and then moved to Kenya.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had alleged that Arshad Sharif was pressured by Pakistani authorities to leave Dubai, but the Foreign Office rejected these claims.
