Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has announced that the government has decided to close the National Flood Response and Coordination Center (NFRCC) while formulating a new strategy for recovery and reconstruction efforts. .

Addressing a function at NFRCC in Islamabad, he said that the National Flood Response Center was built for a special purpose, which is being shut down after its completion.

The federal minister said that the government will continue its efforts to deal with the post-flood challenges under the new system, and continue to support and monitor rehabilitation and reconstruction after the new institutional setting with the relevant authorities and provinces. will

It should be remembered that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif approved the establishment of National Flood Response and Coordination Center on August 29.

He said that the purpose of establishing the center is to facilitate the work of institutions to deal with flood disaster while the center will play the role of a bridge between disaster management authorities, donors and government institutions, gathering the latest information. His duties will include analyzing and reporting to the relevant government agencies.

Speaking to the media, Ahsan Iqbal said that the government has formulated a 4 FR (Resilient, Recovery, Reconstruction and Rehabilitation) strategy or framework, which will be presented to the international community at the conference so that Pakistan To avoid the damages of climate change.

He mentioned the loss of 30 billion dollars as a result of the catastrophic floods this year and said that this loss is equal to 10 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP).

The federal minister said that Pakistan is among the countries that can be more affected by climate change, for this we are also taking help from the international community.

Speaking about the COP 27 conference, Ahsan Iqbal said that recognizing the loss and destruction at the global level is a great achievement.

He praised Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Climate Change Minister Sherry Rehman, who presented the case to world leaders.

He also praised the NFRCC, its team, officers, Army, Pakistan Air Force, Pakistan Navy and the Federal Government.

The Federal Minister urged the people of Pakistan to play their part and help the flood victims, who are in dire need of resources as winter has arrived.

Ahsan Iqbal said that if you can give someone a warm blanket, if you can help someone build a roof, there is a huge responsibility that we must fulfill together.

He said that the federal and provincial governments are making great efforts and are also taking help from international organizations, but the recovery time from the effects of floods can be reduced if the people of Pakistan play their role.
